French Polishing - National Library of Scotland Edinburgh
The Challenge
We were tasked with restoring much of the woodwork in this large and popular library.
Our expertise
We are renowned throughout Edinburgh for our excellence with French polishing. The woodwork needing work included doors and handrails. We were able to work in multiple areas, within the library, to strip away the existing lacquer on the woodwork, providing an excellent preparation for the next stage. We also restored a number of storm doors.
We then applied wood stain to bring out the natural character of the wood and help protect it for the future. This was finished with exemplary French polishing techniques.
The Result
The project was completed efficiently, and with minimal disruption within the library, with the woodwork now, once again, looking stunning.
